A rare chance to learn about ancient cultures that have mostly escaped the effects of modernity is provided by visiting remote locations. These undiscovered treasures offer a glimpse into the past, where customs, dialects, and ways of life have persisted for many generations. Immersion in the rich history and traditions of communities that still uphold their ancient ways is the main reason to visit these isolated places, not merely to see the sights.
Visiting Bhutan, a tiny nation nestled in the Himalayas, was one of my most memorable trips. During local festivals, I got the opportunity to observe centuries-old customs, such as traditional dances, which the Bhutanese people still hold dear. The lack of commercial tourism in these remote locations guarantees that customs are preserved, providing a unique opportunity to observe a way of life that hasn’t changed in decades.
